Frequently Asked Questions

So what's your style?

Bold punchy colours, contrasty with energy and flare is our default style.  We do offer all couples a choice of Light & Airy, Dark and Moody or our default style.

Also expect something a little different!  We capture your day from all angles…close ups, medium shots and wide angle shots… so expect big feet hands and heads in some of our more creative shots!

Posing…whats all that about then?

It’s our job to make you feel and look the best you possibly can on your wedding day. We’re potentially going to be with you from the first minutes of your day until the last, do you think we want you looking not at your best on the photos?

For sure, we will pose you, but you won’t really notice, it’s the subtle little directions that really help bring out your character, and make you look a million dollars on your images!

How do we book?

Let’s have a zoom call to discuss your plans.  Once we’ve got to know each, we’ll set up your project on our system, with your own online private portal that has your contract, invoice, questionnaire.  We ask for a 50% deposit and the signed contract to secure your day.  This gets you officially in our calendar and you can cross off “photographer” from your wedding checklist.

The balance is paid prior to final delivery of the finished photos.

How many images will we receive?

On average for a full day we deliver around 500 images, we won’t send you images that are just ok.  If they’re not up to our standards of being “a banger” they aren’t included.  You only get the wow photos!

Why should we choose you?

We love what we do.

You can build skills into people, but not love & passion, that’s something that comes from within.  We have the camera skills on top of our love and passion for our job, and we aim to create the best possible photographs for you (qualified status with Guild of Photographers UK).  We want to be an integral part of your day. the happiest of your life, and it’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly.

Plus it’s a given that we have all the right equipment to keep your images safe, edit and deliver them in a timely manner and we like to keep in touch with you from to time as excitement builds for your big day.

How do we receive the photos, and how long after the wedding?

You will receive, within 7 days, a preview selection of 20 edited photographs.  These will be sent to you via a link to a password protected private online gallery.

The remainder of the images will be uploaded to your gallery within 4 weeks.

From the gallery you can view and, once final payment is made, you can download and share the images.

Your guests may also view the gallery if you choose to share the link.  The price to download or buy prints for your guests is detailed within the gallery.  Any orders are sent directly to your guests from our print house in Edinburgh.

Are you insured?

Yes we are fully covered for public liability globally.  If your venue needs to see a copy of the insurance certificate, we can send this to them.

Do you have someone else to be a second photographer if we need one?

Way ahead of you – my wife Jo comes as a 2nd shooter on all our weddings, so it’s already included in the price. Having two photographers allows us to be in two places at once and capture both of your faces during important moments like the vows.

What happens if you are unable to attend our wedding?

It hasn’t happened yet but it’s a good question.

In the very unlikely event both of us couldn’t make it then we will without doubt do everything in our power to arrange a replacement photographer for you. We are part of a network of professional photographers who are on standby to help each other should the worst happen.

Given we shoot your day as a pair, we are well covered if one of us was unable to be there.  Please note we would never choose to take on another client’s wedding on the same day as yours.

In any event, there wouldn’t be any further costs incurred by yourself due to changes on our part.

What happens if your camera breaks?

We’re greedy photographers and love our equipment!

We always use two cameras each to shoot your wedding day.  Each camera has dual SD card slots, which backs up all your photos as we shoot them, so if one SD card corrupts, the second will still have all your images.

We also save your images to more than one external back-up drive and don’t delete the original raw files even after delivering your final images.  Redundancy is key!

What happens if we decide to cancel?

If you change the date and we are available for your new date, then we can move the booking. There may be additional costs if the day of the week or venue changes such as increased travel expenses.

If you cancel entirely then the deposit is non-refundable but the remainder of the balance would not become due.

The cancellation policy is in the contract which you will receive at time of booking. If you’d like to read a copy before you sign, just ask.
