An Amazing Location, Beautiful Bride, Great Groom, Rain,  And Some Twerking.

Our fourth Wedding of the 2024 season found us heading back South to Picardy, a region of Northern France, to shoot the wedding of Jessica & James at Chateau De Vauchelles.

We had previously visited the Chateau late 2023 where we had the chance to meet Jessica & James and see the Chateau.  We always like to do this before photographing  weddings.  The Chateau looked totally different in the June sun, what a beautiful setting for an epic wedding!

We stayed over the night before at a lovely small hotel 15 minutes away from the venue, Hotel Du Canard. We had a lovely meal and a glass of wine before checking the gear and getting some well earned sleep after a long trip to the UK.
The forecast for the day looked mixed.  As always I trusted my excellent weather app “Weather & Radar”.
We arrived around 10:30 and spent some time saying hello to everyone before getting to work.
As always, Jo spent her time with the Bride Jessica, their daughter Mia, Jessica’s Mum and her bridesmaids.  They had a great time, dancing, singing, getting hair and makeup done by the amazing duo of Eleanor Veness & Hairstyle Amiens
Whilst the girls were having fun, I headed to the groom, James and his groomsmen to get some shots of them getting ready and drinking a few beers in a lovely relaxed part of the Chateau.
Once the boys were ready we headed out to get a group shot in front of the chateau.
I then headed to meet Jo and the girls, to help prepare for the bridal portraits.  This involved re-arranging the whole entrance area to the chateau.  Wedding photographers would make great removal people!
Once the scene was set, I headed upstairs to join the girls.  Before the portrait session, I captured the flatlay images of Jessica’s details, which included a beautiful pair of Gucci wedding shoes and matching earrings.  I also captured a macro shot of the rings.

Jessica thought of everything, including a beautiful pendant for her daughter Mia, which hopefully she will use on her wedding day!

Details done, we started with the reveal to her bridesmaids before the first look with Jessica’s Dad, Steve.

We then took some beautiful images of Jessica in her stunning wedding dress by Pronovias

It’s not all about the girls!  James had a portrait session too!

The ceremony started a little later, to make sure the rain had passed by.  The sun came out eventually, the rest of the days was really nice, not too hot, sunny with no rain.

Jessica and James spent some time with Joanne after the ceremony for their couple portraits, including this stunning photo taken looking back towards the chateau.

Drinks were had, sunshine enjoyed before we headed to the party room for meals and speeches, and of course the Bride & Groom entrance!  Cue the waving napkins!  After the speeches James made a toast to their good friend Jonny who was celebrating his 30th birthday the same day.

Meals & Speeches finished, it was party time!  Outside there was plenty of room in the gardens for the guests to enjoy the sun.  Jessica did the tossing of the bouquet before we headed off to do the golden hour shots.

Being a creative, I always like to do something a little different for the couple too using my Magmod gear

Party Time!  The drinks flowed, the music played, we had the first dances (with Dad and then James) before the floor filled and all the guests got into funky mode, sporting white love heart sunglasses! and tambourines!

Dance lessons were given in the art of the “Twerk” followed by a song and dance in honour of James’ parents who were celebrating their 40th the next day.

The evening played out to the great music provided by Kyle the DJ

Another great wedding.  We’re so grateful to be a part of these moments in peoples lives.

All the best for the future Jessica & James.
