Rain (again), Smashed Piñata, Jazzy Sax, Gazebo Moving.

Our fifth Wedding of the 2024 season, we headed a couple of hours from our house in Beaumont to Manoir Beaulieu, in the Charente region of South West France. It’s a beautiful renovated Domaine, owned by Lauren & James from the UK and only 1 hour 40 minutes from either Bordeaux or Bergerac airports.  Their journey of moving to France, renovating the property and hosting weddings can be seen on Channel 4’s A New Life In The Sun
We were booked very last minute (the day before) as their original photographer had taken ill.  We’d planned to have this weekend as a rest after our three weddings in ten days trip around northern France and the UK, however there’s no way we were saying no and potentially leaving Megan & Andrew in  position where they had no professional photographs from their wedding day.  We dropped everything as soon as the booking was confirmed, checked all the gear, charged everything, packed it and had an early night.
The weather forecast looked stormy, and proved to be so.
We arrived around midday and headed straight to introduce ourselves.  This was the first time we’d spoke to Megan & Andrew besides a brief call the day before, so it was great to meet them.  Normally we’d have a lot of contact with our couples before their wedding day and we’d already know a lot about them, what they wanted out of the day from us, shot lists, group photos names list etc (Joanne is very organised with this stuff).  This day was different.
Jo went to Megan & her girls to spend some time taking prep shots, whilst I headed to Andrew & the boys.
On arrival they were all in a state of undress, and when I jokingly said “you’ve too much on”, the towels came off.  I took the shot, but it’s not suitable for this blog!  I captured some lovely shots of Andrew inside Manoir Beaulieu before we headed out into the courtyard for some group shots.
After I left Andrew and his groomsmen to chill before welcoming their arriving guests and I headed to get some macro shots of the rings using Andrew’s button hole to add some colour.
We met Wilson, Megan & Andrew’s lovely Labrador pup.  He was doubling on the day as the cuteness factor and also the ring bearer.  Here’s his little ring box which was attached to his collar for the ceremony.
And here he is…

Jo took some beautiful images of Megan once she was in her dress.  She looked amazing.  Thanks to Bob Bradley Makeup and Sam at Dordogne Bridal Hair for their great work.

The guests arrived for drinks ahead of the ceremony at 2pm.  The weather was just about holding off during the stunning arrival of Megan and her Bridesmaids, accompanied by her Dad Ian.

The ceremony was a lovely one and the weather played ball until around half way through when the heavens opened.  Cue the Gazebos and umbrellas!  Despite the rain, the Celebrant, Gaynor from Ceremonies In France did a fantastic job to keep the ceremony fun and lighthearted despite the weather.  The beautiful flowers by La Vie En Fleur stood up well to the rain!

What’s a wedding without confetti, or in today’s eco friendly way, flower petals?  These were thrown with gusto and delight as Mr & Mrs Lewis walked back up the aisle after their ceremony.

Everyone then headed to the pool area for drinks and some entertainment provided by saxophonist David.

The meals and speeches were held in the barn (yes it started raining again) with Megan and Andrew making a grand entrance to cheers and of course waving napkins.

The food was amazing!  Jo and I were very well looked after by  Lauren, James and the team.  Thank you! They worked tirelessly to make sure the wedding went without a hitch.

Who needs a wedding cake when you can have a Wedding Cake Piñata stuffed with sweets?  Megan and Andrew had a blast smashing this to pieces!

First dance, then the party.   Great music by DJ Victor from Denver MSC Events.

Another great wedding, thanks for having us!

All the best for the future Megan & Andrew.
